Background and Biography:
from k.d lang’s Wikipedia Page:
Lang is also known for being a vegan as well as an animal rights, gay rights, and Tibetan human rights activist. She is a tantric practitioner of the Old School of Tibetan Buddhism. Lang, who came out as a lesbian in a 1992 article of the LGBT-related news magazine The Advocate, has actively championed gay rights causes. She has performed and supported many causes over the years, including HIV/AIDS care and research.
Lang appeared on the cover of the August 1993 issue of Vanity Fair. The cover featured Lang in a barber chair while model Cindy Crawford appeared to shave her face with a straight razor . The issue contained a detailed article about Lang which observed that she had thought that she would be ostracized by the country music industry when she came out as a lesbian. However, Nashville was accepting, and her records continued to sell. When she appeared in an ad for PETA however, Nashville was less impressed owing to the relationship between country music and cattle ranching.
Thoughts:
Before listening to this album I had not spent much time with k.d. lang. Obviously I knew she sang “Constant Craving” and I had an idea she used to sing country music. After listening to this album I can say she has a beautiful and quite amazing voice and I’m glad I spent the time getting to know it! I hope you do the same!

Back Cover Quote:
“A lyric baritone voice seizing the sentiments of Charles Aznavour’s “What Makes a Man” swept our halls with a wind soft as wildflowers, strong as the forest. We followed. Listened. Laughed. Cried. We Shared the life and the love of Larry Paulette. And, with this album, he invites you to do the same. Born in Mingo Junction, Ohio. Larry studied costume design at the University of Cincinnati for three years. But what he designed was his dream. This singer of secrets, this actor on private stages wanted to be a star: up-front, out-front and Gay. In 1971 he came to New York City, and our sky is a little bright for it.”

These are all the records I picked up at a garage sale on Saturday, I got the whole lot for $25! Each plastic box holds around 100, so I probably got around 400. Unfortunately the last box was full of water damaged records, I was really sad- there were Bowie albums in it!
So I was going through them and I was thinking to myself that the records were really gay, whoever owned them had the complete album collections of Elton John, Bette Midler, Barbara Streisand, the Village People, and plenty of musicals. There were also some really random albums that were gay themed. I showed some friends the really gay ones, and it was a fun time and I thought I should start a blog! So here it is!!
